Bangladesh has a population of over 160 million people, making it the eighth most populous country in the world. The majority of the population is young, with 65% of the population under the age of 30. This large population of young people presents both a challenge and an opportunity for Bangladesh. The challenge is that many young people are unemployed or underemployed. The unemployment rate in Bangladesh was 4.3% in 2017, but this does not include those who are underemployed or working in the informal economy.
